Terms for using Nodal

1. Who operates Nodal

Nodal is an independent project operated by an individual. In these Terms, "Nodal", "the Service", "I", and "operator" refer to the person running the site and the site itself, depending on context.

Nodal is not affiliated with Valve Corporation or Steam.

2. The Service is informational

Nodal provides recommendations and discovery tools. Recommendations are predictions, not guarantees. A game being recommended does not mean you will like it, that it will run on your system, or that it is available for purchase.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for unlawful purposes.
• Attempt to scrape, crawl, or harvest the Service using automated means without permission.
• Reverse engineer, probe, or attempt to bypass rate limits or access controls.
• Interfere with the Service, including by introducing malware or abusive traffic.
• Use the Service to build a competing product by systematically copying outputs at scale.

Reasonable personal use is the goal. If you want to use Nodal outputs commercially or at scale, contact me.

4. Steam IDs and library lookups

You may optionally enter a Steam ID to generate library-based recommendations. You represent that you have the right to access the profile data you request and that you are complying with Steam's terms and privacy settings.

If a Steam profile is private or restricted, Nodal may not be able to fetch the necessary public data.

5. Intellectual property and attribution

Steam, Valve, and related marks are trademarks of Valve Corporation. Game names, logos, artwork, and screenshots belong to their respective owners. Nodal displays such material for identification and commentary.

The Service, including its original design, code, and non-Steam content, is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

6. Third-party services

Nodal depends on third-party providers for hosting, storage, and related infrastructure, and depends on Steam sources for publicly available data. Third-party services have their own terms and policies. Nodal is not responsible for third-party outages or policy changes.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

Nodal does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that recommendations will be accurate or complete.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Nodal and the operator will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from your use of the Service.

If liability is found despite the above, the maximum total liability for any claim will be limited to the amount you paid to use the Service in the 12 months prior to the claim (if any). If you paid nothing, the limit is $0.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Nodal and the operator from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

10. Termination

Access may be suspended or terminated at any time if misuse, abuse, or security risk is suspected. You may stop using the Service at any time.

11. Changes to the Service or Terms

Nodal may change, pause, or discontinue features at any time. These Terms may be updated occasionally. Updates take effect when posted. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by applicable laws in the jurisdiction where the operator resides, without regard to conflict of law rules.
